Cold Weather Alert: Protect Your Plumbing
With upcoming freezing temperatures, the Orrville Water Department reminds customers that private water lines and household plumbing are at increased risk of freezing. Frozen pipes can lead to service interruptions and costly damage.
Tips to help prevent frozen pipes:
- Keep indoor temperatures above 55°F, even when away
- Let faucets run slightly during extreme cold
- Open cabinet doors to allow warm air to reach pipes
- Insulate exposed pipes, especially in basements, crawl spaces, and garages
