This project is tenatively schedule to begin Monday, March 13th and will take approximately 2 weeks to complete. There are 4 main tasks to complete the work (see list), View Map (click link)
Install new water main valves at the intersection of Paradise and Garfield Streets. It will require closing several valves to isolate the work area and stop water flow. Customers on W. Paradise, Garfield and Lenore will experience water service disruptions. It will take approximately 6 to 8 hours on the first day of the project to install the valves, tentatively scheduled for March 13th.
Excavate trench and lay new 6 inch water main on Garfield and Lenore Streets from Paradise Street to McGill Street (3 to 4 days). After the connection is completed, the new main will be chlorinated, tested, and then flushed.
Move existing service lines from the old 4 inch main to the new 6 inch water main. Each customer will lose water service for 1 to 2 hours as it is reconnected to the new main. (3 to 4 days)
Sever and decommission old main from the system. The old main must be disconnected from the system after all the water services are switched to the new main. It will require a section on McGill Street to be isolated and lose water service for 4 to 6 hours.
The remaining road and landscape repair will be completed later when the weather conditions allow for final street coating and landscape grading.
