Water heater thermostats should be set no higher than
120 degrees. Quick recovery water heaters have two thermostats and both
should be set at the same temperature. Ad an extra layer of insulation
to older water heaters located in unheated areas. Be sure not to cover
the pressure relief valve, drain valve, and electrical connection.
Water heaters have a number of vital parts:
-
The outer casing is coated with enamel, to resist
stains, and hold in insulation.
-
The inner tank is metal with a bonded glass lining
to deter rust and corrosion and ensure clear, clean water.
-
The anode is a metal rod immersed in water that
adds extra protection against corrosion.
-
Thermostats control the heating element and maintain
the required water temperature.
-
Immersion heating elements are sheathed in copper
and provide complete contact with water for instant heat transfer
and fast recovery.
-
The inlet directs cold water to the bottom of the
tank without affecting the hot water in the upper portion.
-
The drain valve allows drainage of sediment from
the bottom of the tank.
-
The pressure relief valve is a safety device to
prevent excessive temperatures or pressures inside the tank.
-
Insulation covers the tank to reduce heat loss and
ensure efficient operation.
